The fall weather has finally arrived in my neighborhood, and I couldn’t be happier! Autumn is the season where I thrive with productivity and opportunities for authors abound.
In fact, this Saturday, September 23, I will be a participating author at Boise Books & Brews. The event features local authors, local bands, and local breweries, promising a fun fall afternoon! If you are in the area, I hope you will consider attending and come meet me in person! You can find the complete event information HERE.
I also received word this week that I was a second-place winner in a short story contest. I can’t share my winning story until after the official winner announcement at the end of the month, but I was honored to receive the news and look forward to telling you more about it soon!
Finally, after much consideration, I have decided to pull my books from Kindle Unlimited (KU). Recently, Amazon decided to charge KU subscribers more for their subscription. But unfortunately, they are paying authors less than ever. This quote from the Romance Rehab Blog sums it up nicely:
“The payout for page reads in KU is at an all-time low. Authors are paid less now for their KU books than EVER, even though Amazon’s income went up substantially…
“In short, authors often work for months (or years) on books. Self-published authors have to pay for cover art, editing, marketing, formatting, sensitivity/beta readers, and TONS of other incidentals to get their books on the market. And for their efforts, Amazon pays them fractions of a cent per page with no guarantee or proof that they’re being compensated correctly. Sound like something you’d want to sign up for if you worked for months or years on a book?”

Thank you in advance for understanding my decision. You will still be able to read my books on KU until October 18, 2023, and of course you can still purchase Kindle and Paperback copies of them.
I hope you enjoy Autumn wherever you are, and don’t forget that my Lucy Vaughn Mystery Series books are great October reads as we head into Halloween season!
